GameStop now to accept music CDs

GameStop, which currently offers its customers cash or store credit when they trade in computer games and DVDs, will now also accept music CDs.

The chain, which has 57 stores in Ireland and the UK, says it is the first retailer in Ireland to accept music CDs.

It is estimated that 250 tonnes of CDs are sent as waste to landfill in Ireland every year. This number is expected to grow as more people move to the digital format.

GameStop says it will accept CD music albums in good working order, but it will not accept CD singles, promotional copies or free CDs from newspapers and magazines.
