Up to 90 new jobs are to be created in Galway city by two US multi-national companies.
50 of the jobs will be at the existing Hewlett-Packard computer software and IT plant at Ballybrit. It is understood the additional staff will work on new research and development projects. The company already employs around 500 in Galway.
40 new jobs are to be created by the online retail company Buy.com, which is opening a new facility in Galway. It has its headquarters in California. Tánaiste Mary Coughlan will announce further details of the new projects tomorrow morning.
30 new jobs from broadband deal
Meanwhile, Mullingar-based company Satellite Broadband Ireland says it will create 30 new jobs as a result of a contract from mobile group 3 Ireland.
The Government chose 3 Ireland to deliver the National Broadband Scheme, which is aimed at providing broadband services to areas currently not served.
Damien Gallagher of 3 Ireland said satellite broadband was the only viable option in a small percentage of buildings in rural Ireland.
Established in 2008, Satellite Broadband Ireland currently employs 10 people at its headquarters in Mullingar.
