The IEDR says that new registrations on the .ie domain exceeded 3,000 in September.
The latest figures form the IE Domain Registration are in keeping with the improvement seen all year, with over 3,000 new registrations in each of the first nine months of the year.
In total, there have been 28,522 registrations in 2009, up 7% on the same period last year.
Sole traders and limited companies account for 83% of the increase, with the remaining growth attributable to clubs, societies and charity organisations.
The continued popularity in .ie domains can be explained by a six-year trend of price cuts that has seen the price of a .ie domain fall 64% since 2003.
