Intel Ireland is to cut between 200 and 300 jobs between now and June. The reduction is part of an overall worldwide cost saving plan.
Last month the company announced it was closing a number of factories around the world and reducing its workforce by up to 6,000.
However, the company indicated at the time that a further 1,000 jobs were likely to be shed around the globe.
Today it told its workforce in Leixlip in Co Kildare that up to 300 of those jobs were to come from the Irish operation.
It is understood the redundancies will be voluntary. Intel currently employs over 5,000 people here.
Intel Chairman Craig Barrett had last month said that the company had no immediate plans to cut jobs or investment in Ireland.
