Advertising group WPP has reported underlying sales growth of 4.3% for the first half of this year, beating market expectations.
WPP, whose advertising agencies include Ogilvy & Mather and Young & Rubicam, said business activity in 2008 should match that of 2007, helped by the Beijing Olympic Games and the US presidential election.
First-half sales were £3.3 billion. Pre-tax profits were up 15% to £338.5m, though the increase was a smaller 3.4% when currency movements were stripped out.
