Apple says it sold one million new iPhones 3G in the gadget's first weekend on the market around the world.
'IPhone 3G had a stunning opening weekend,' Apple chief executive Steve Jobs said in a statement. He added that it had taken 74 days to sell the first one million original iPhones.
The phone, which is faster than its previous version, was launched in 21 countries - including Ireland - on Friday.
But some Irish customers were hit by what O2 Ireland called a 'network fault' yesterday. This meant they could not browse the internet for a time. O2 has the franchise to distribute the iPhones in Ireland.
