A Galway car dealer has given the National Consumer Agency a formal undertaking that it will not sell 'clocked' cars in future.
This follows an investigation by the consumer body, which found that Arch Motors Ltd, of Westside Galway, had been offering for sale used cars with altered or reduced mileage readings.
The agency said that on February 19, it identified three vehicles which were on sale with a reduced mileage reading. One of these vehicles was sold on February 22.
The body said Arch Motors had also pledged to compensate the consumers affected.
Chief executive Ann Fitzgerald said this was the second such undertaking from a car dealer this year, and sent a clear message to other dealers that they cannot mislead consumers by selling them clocked cars and expect to get away with it.
