Digital media firms destined for growth

New research suggests that the numbers employed in digital media companies here could grow by around 35% over the next year.

The predictions are based on a survey of businesses operating out of the Digital Hub in Dublin.

One in six digital media companies currently operating in Ireland are located there and the report's authors say this means their findings are a good representation of the overall situation in the industry.

The Enterprise Survey was conducted at the end of last year and the results were published today. Although six months have passed, Dr Stephen Brennan from the Hub says the outlook is still very positive.

The report says that technology companies are now better able to respond to economic challenges and take advantage of the growing number of consumers who are conducting business online.

The survey also says the nature of employees in the sector - mostly young, highly-skilled and flexible - means companies are in a position to grow at much faster rates than those in other areas.
