ICT industry needs more graduates - report

Ireland needs to increase the flow of graduates into information and communications technologies if the country is to grow jobs in the sector. That is according to a report published by Forfás today.

ICT accounts for a third of the country's exports and employs around 70,000 people.

The report, by the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs, recommends that action be taken at secondary level. It says that students should get extra points for maths at Leaving Cert and bursary schemes should be introduced at third level.

It also recommends that Ireland looks abroad for skilled people.
