Computer chip giant Intel says it has received an order from US competition regulators for more information in relation to competition in the chip market. The move follows a two-year informal review by the US Federal Trade Commission.
The announcement increases the likelihood of formal competition charges against the world's biggest chip maker.
In a statement, Intel said it had received a subpoena on Wednesday from the FTC. It also said it already provided the commission with thousands of documents linked to the informal probe.
It added that 'the company believes its business practices are well within US law'.
