Green Isle takes exporter prize

Green Isle Foods, based in Naas, Co Kildare, has won the Irish Exporters Association's overall Exporter of the Year Award 2007.

Green Isle Foods won the prize because of its impressive export performance in exporting frozen foods, especially to Britain. The company employs 1,000 people in Ireland and
England across its five manufacturing plants.

The exporters' group said one of the company's outstanding successes has been the development of the Goodfella's pizza brand, which has grown to be the UK's top selling pizza brand and is currently listed in the UK's top 50 grocery brands.
