The Government has appointed former AIB chairman Lochlann Quinn as chairman of the ESB with effect from January 22 next year.
Mr Quinn, who replace Tadhg O'Donoghue, will have a five-year term.
'I am very pleased that Lochlann Quinn will be bringing his unparalleled experience in the business and energy world to the board of the ESB,' said Energy Minister Eamon Ryan.
