O2 Ireland’s third quarter service revenue totalled €243m, a 6.8% increase on its revenue for the same time last year.
The company's Q3 Key Performance Indicators, which were released today, also show that its customer base increased by 1.8% to 1.632 million, with almost 21,000 bill phone customers signing up in the three months to 30 September.
The monthly Average Revenue Per User rose slightly from the last quarter to €47, but still reflects a 3.9% on the same time 12 months ago.
There was also an increase in the mount of monthly minutes used from 241 to 250 - up 3.6% - but there was a 1% drop in text messages sent. There were 397 million texts sent in Q3 this year as opposed to the 393 million sent in the same period last year.
O2 Ireland’s chief financial officer Paul Whelan was happy with its performance in the quarter, with the O2 Broadband service that was launched in July proving a popular service.
'Uptake of our broadband product to date has been robust, exceeding our expectations,' Whelan said.
The Irish mobile phone market has become more competitive following the recent launch of Tesco Mobile, which brought the number of mobile providers in this country to five.
