Cable firm's Q2 profits up 10.6%

UPC, which owns cable companies Chorus and NTL in Ireland, has reported that revenues in its Irish businesses in the second quarter of this year were €55.4m, up 7.6% on the same period last year.

Operating profits rose by 10.6% to €17.8m and the company had 591,000 subscribers at the end of June.

It added 4,100 broadband subscribers in the quarter, bringing the total to 67,000. Digital television subscriptions moved up to 216,500 from 210,800 at the end of March.
