Mobile phone maker Motorola has warned that it will make a loss for the second quarter of the year, blaming weak mobile sales in Asia and Europe.
The firm added that its main mobile phone business was likely to make a loss for the whole of 2007.
It said second quarter sales would be $8.6 billion to $8.7 billion. It had previously expected Q2 sales to be in line with the first quarter's $9.4 billion.
The profit warnings have increased speculation that the firm's chief executive Ed Zander may step down soon.
Motorola has already announced 7,500 job cuts this year and closed its plant in Cork earlier this year.
