Eircom has reported operating profits of €240m for the year to the end of March, up from €234m a year earlier, as total revenue rose 16% to €1.96 billion.
The company said subscriber numbers at its mobile division Meteor jumped by 33% over the year to 832,000. It added that the figure had moved up to 849,000 by the middle of May.
Speaking on RTE radio, CEO Rex Comb ruled out a re-branding of Meteor to an Eircom name.
Eircom said it had added 57,000 broadband customers in the last quarter, bringing its total to 417,000, an 81% increase since March 31 last year. This has since moved up to 440,000.
Fixed line revenue was up 2% over the year to €1.65 billion, but underlying profits dropped slightly to €594m, due partly to winter storm damage to its network. Underlying profits at Meteor were €54m for the year.
Eircom CEO Rex Comb said the company had successfully repriced its debt, and this would result in interest savings of €16m a year from the middle of June.
Mr Comb also told RTE radio Eircom had not applied to the regulator for an increase in its line rental prices, though the company's costs were going up. But he said an increase could not be ruled out in future years.
