Andor expects better second half

Digital camera maker Andor Technology has said sales have been good in the six months to the end of March, but margins have been affected by currency movements and planned increases in its cost base.

In a trading statement, the Belfast-based company said sales in the period would be at least £10m. Andor said the increased investment in new technology would bear fruit in the second half.

The company said sales in the US research market had been slower than expected in the last three months due to a delay in Congress's passing US national scientific research budgets. Andor said these budgets had now been agreed and it expected an improvement in the second half.

Andor has also announced the appointment of Titan Electro-Optics as a new distributor in China and Taiwan.
