Mobile operator Vodafone Ireland has described reports that it will announce job cuts of up to 500 people as 'entirely speculative'. In a statement, the company confirmed that it was conducting a review of its Irish business.
The Irish Independent had quoted sources close to the company as saying that up to 500 jobs could go, but Vodafone said the review had only recently started and it was unable to confirm how many staff would be affected.
Vodafone employs 1,800 in Dublin, Dundalk and in its retail outlets. The Irish Independent said it was expected that Vodafone staff would be updated on the review at the end of January 2007.
