Emap flat despite radio buy lift

Media group Emap has reported a 4% rise in first-half profits, saying it remains on track to deliver full-year results in line with its expectations despite challenging trading conditions.

UK-based Emap owns a number of radio stations in the Republic after its acquisition of SRH. Its underlying pre-tax profit was £93m, slightly above analysts' expectations, on flat revenue of £554m.

Underlying revenue at its UK consumer magazine business was down 4% at £185m, as advertising revenue dropped 5%.

But radio profits grew by 16% to £15m, as revenue rose 39% to £81m. The rise in revenue was 5% after SRH was stripped out.
