Radio buys boost EMAP's profits

British media group EMAP, which owns a number of radio stations in the Republic, has said its annual pre-tax profit increased by 9%, benefiting from acquisitions in its radio and events businesses and new consumer magazine launches.

EMAP, the UK-based owner of magazines FHM and Closer and radio stations Magic and Kiss, reported pre-tax profit of £223m for the year to the end of March.

The company also said trading in the first few weeks of the new financial year has been in line with expectations, and is following the same patterns as last year.

EMAP acquired SRH, which owned Today FM and FM104, last year and said the integration of the stations it bought was proceeding well. Boosted by the buys, revenue in the company's radio division grew by 44% to £141m.
