UK satellite broadcaster BSkyB has reported pre-tax profits of £219m for the three months to March 31.
For the same period last year, the company had pre-tax profits of £203m. It attributes the growth in third quarter profits to an increased number of subscribers.
The company has added 40,000 subscribers in the last three months. This figure came in slightly below estimates, with most analysts predicting closer to 45,000 new customers in Q3.
BSkyB also reported an increase of 11% in revenues for the same period.
Meanwhile, Sky Ireland has announced that the total number of Sky digital subscribers in Ireland has passed 400,000 for the first time, reaching 407,000 at 31 March 2006. This represents an increase of 52,000 subscribers since last year.
