Hutchison Whampoa, the ports-to-telecoms conglomerate controlled by Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing, today reported an 11% rise in 2005 net profit,
just beating forecasts.
The company, which owns the 3 mobile network here, said net profit rose to 14.34 billion Hong Kong dollars ($5.1 billion) from $12.9 billion dollars in 2004, slightly ahead of the market consensus estimate of around 13.90 billion dollars.
Meanwhile, Li's holding company, Cheung Kong, reported a net profit of 14 billion dollars in 2005, up 31% on the 12.38 billion dollars in 2004 and compared with market forecasts around 13.1 billion dollars.
