O'Brien firm buys two Ukraine stations

Denis O'Brien's media group Communicorp is acquiring two radio stations in Ukraine.

It has completed the acquisition of Radio Apelsin, a local station in the capital Kiev, and has also agreed to buy commercial national network Nashe Radio.

Nashe Radio, which has a licence to 2012, has a monthly reach of 30% of the country's 47 million population. It targets the 25-45 age group. Padio Apelsin is aimed mainly at a youth audience.

Communicorp operates 31 stations in six countries. In Ireland, it has interests in Dublin's 98FM, Spin and Newstalk 106.
