An Post service level dropped in Q3

An Post - Regulator still concerned

Figures released this afternoon show that An Post's quality of service in the third quarter of this year dropped slightly compared with the second quarter.

Communications regulator ComReg said that 74% of standard mail was delivered within one working day throughout the State, compared with 78% in the second quarter. This compares with the regulator's target of 94%.

ComReg said it had previously highlighted its concerns about the quality of service for mail originating in Dublin, where so much of the nation’s mail originates. It added that the trend for the third quarter did not change its concerns.

ComReg said single piece priority mail posted in Dublin for next day delivery locally is achieving only a 77% success rate, while mail posted for next day delivery outside Dublin is only achieving a 75% success rate.

Earlier this week ComReg said it had decided not to grant any increase in the price of the standard domestic letter service, which will remain at 48 cent.
