Shareholders in Eircom have approved the acquisition of mobile operator Meteor at an extraordinary general meeting in Dublin.
The EGM also backed the rights issue which is intended to raise €423m to fund the deal. Shareholders will have until October 7 to take up their allocation of new shares under the rights issue.
Shareholders will be offered five shares for every 12 they currently hold. The new shares will represent just under 30% of Eircom's enlarged share capital.
