AGM - Shareholders hear upbeat outlook

Iona Technology's new Artix software solution has been greeted by tech monitor Gartner as the solution that brings the company back to its original creative best.

At the company's AGM in Dublin today, the firm which has struggled for the last few years, outlined how things are now going to be different for it.

'An execution of our strategy through committed focus of management and the entire team saw Iona exit 2004 positioned for sustainable performance with an enhanced market standing and as an industry leader and innovator in the emerging Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) market sector,' CEO Peter Zotto told shareholders at today's AGM.

He said that to date, the company has received strong validation for Artix from independent analysts, customers and partners. Both existing  customers and customers new to the company, including O2, Deutsche Post, Marconi, Beijing Mobile, Raymond James and AT&T, have chosen Artix for their ESB solution.

'We are confident that Iona will deliver performance, leadership and growth,' Chairman Kevin Melia told shareholders.

Earlier this year Iona marked its first three months of profit in over five years. But this was followed by profit warnings which hit its share price. This has fallen from a high of €4.80 after the first quarter to €2.60 today.
