Eircom has issued first quarter results under new accounting methods which show a pre-tax profits of €77m, compared with a €6m loss in the same period last year.
The main figures for the three months to the end of June had previously been released last month under UK GAAP accounting rules.
Revenue was marginally lower at €399m and the results include a €46m gain on the sale of property. EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) before exceptional items fell 3% to €149m. The company blamed the drop on discounts to promote sales of broadband and other packages.

Eircom's revenue from voice traffic dropped by 8% on Q1 last year to €128m, but revenues from interconnection services jumped 25% to €46m.
Shares in Eircom closed five cent lower at €1.75 in Dublin this evening.
