3 makes four in mobile market

Mobile operator 3 has launched its third generation services in Ireland, saying it will challenge existing operators with value on prices and better services.

The company, owned by Hong Kong based Hutchison Whampoa, is offering price plans starting at €25 per month for 200 voice minutes to any network.

3 says it will offer 'a huge range' of 3G video entertainment with every price plan at no extra cost. The company says it has 99.5% population coverage for voice and text, with 60% covered by its 3G service.

3 says it will offer improved customer services, including a handset replacement programme that will aim to replace faulty handsets 'within a matter of hours', and a 24-month warranty.

3's £G content includes highlights from all next season's matches from the Barclays Premiership, Champions League and UEFA Cup competitions, video and text news bulletins, film clips and comedy sketches.
