There is serious concern over the fate of 250 jobs in a high-tech industry in Dundalk.
US company Quantum has announced that it has started a review of its European operations, including Dundalk, and has warned that this may lead to the outsourcing of work from the factory.
The review is expected to last around 45 days and could result in the closure of the factory, possibly by the end of 2006, according to a company spokesperson. Quantum manufactures digital tape drives.
