Britain's BT Group has reported fourth quarter earnings at the top end of forecasts, with revenues up by a better than forecast 2%.
BT said underlying earnings per share rose to 4.9 pence in the quarter to the end of March, up from 3.9 pence the same time last year.
Revenue rose to £4.87 billion from £4.787 billion, taking the figure for the year to £18.62 billion. The increased was mainly on the back of a 27% rise in 'new wave' revenues from broadband internet and networking services.
BT is becoming increasingly reliant on these areas to counter a declining traditional fixed-line business.
