Media group Ulster Television has confirmed that it is talks on a possible takeover of Britain's Wireless Group.
Wireless owns TalkSport radio station and also has 16 local radio stations in the UK. In a statement, UTV said the talks were 'at a preliminary stage'.
Reports in the British press suggested that UTV's approach valued Wireless at more than £100m. TalkSport is run by former Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie, who was reported to be trying to put together a management buyout of the station.
