British mobile phone operator mmO2 is to change its name to O2, the brand name under which it markets mobile phone services including O2 Ireland.
Under the restructuring, shareholders were given the option of receiving new O2 shares in exchange for existing mmO2 holdings, or a cash alternative, the group said in an official statement to the London Stock Exchange.
The mmO2 group was spun off from British telecoms operator BT Group in November 2001.
