Denis O'Brien's Caribbean mobile phone company Digicel has acquired Curacao-based Curacao Telecom.
Founded in 1999, CT provides international telephone and internet services, as well as mobile services. With a population of around 150,000 people, mobile penetration in Curacao is estimated at 75-80%, according to Digicel.
Digicel currently operates in seven countries including Aruba, Barbados, The Cayman Islands, Grenada, Jamaica, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Last week it raised $408m to fund its aggressive expansion strategy.
