UTV aims to have the new radio station, U105, on air by early next year. The station will be targeted mainly at the over 45s, and will provide a mixture of talk and music.
'UTV has a demonstrable track record in providing successful local television and radio services,' commented UTV's Group CEO John McCann.
UTV announced a 28% increase in pre-tax profits for 2004 yesterday. The group's pre-tax profits - before goodwill amortisation - rose to £17.4m sterling for the year ending December 31, 2004, up from £13.6m in 2003 .
