Amazon.com, one of the largest online retailers in the world, is to establish its European Systems and Networks Operations Centre in Dublin, with the creation of 25 new jobs.
The new centre, which is being supported by IDA Ireland, will provide support for Amazon.com's systems worldwide. It is expected to open in the first half of 2005.
The 25 new jobs will come on stream during the next two years, with over 70% being for third level graduates.
'The establishment of such a strategic centre here, by one of the world's global leaders in Internet commerce, further endorses the ability of Ireland's technical infrastructure and skills base to support such operations,' commented the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheal Martin.
'It confirms this country's status as the leading European location for the largest internet activities in the world. It is an excellent example of the success being achieved by the Government's policy and IDA Ireland's strategy for the development of Ireland's digital media sector,' the Minister added.
