Limerick based E-net has taken control of the networks in seven towns around the country, bringing the prospect of low cost reliable broadband services to these areas through multiple carriers.
The seven towns which are now 'live' and ready for service via the E-net operated network are Letterkenny, Dungarvan, Clonmel, Athlone, Roscommon, Ballina and Kiltimagh.
Broadband retailers can now roll out their separate product offerings to existing and potential new customers in these towns.
E-Net manages, maintains and operates the new broadband networks, called Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) on behalf of the Government. The MANS programme is in two phases - a first phase of 27 cities and towns is largely completed and cost over €70m to construct. The second phase of 41 more towns is expected to cost €55m.
