BCI signs 10 year contract with Setanta Sports

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland has signed a 10 year contract with Setanta Sports Channel Ireland Ltd for a provision of a television service.

Setanta Sports will provide Ireland's first dedicated sports channel, broadcasting seven days a week.

The service is broadcast on the NTL and Chorus platforms under Section 41 of the Broadcasting Act and also on channel 429 on the Sky Digital platform under Section 36 of the act.

'Today's signing marks the first television contract signed since the release of BCI's television licensing policy last July,' commented Conor J Maguire, Chairperson of the BCI.

'We look forward to licensing additional services under the relevant sections of the act in the near future,' he added.
