Central Statistics Office figures show that employment in private firms in the construction industry grew by 5.5% in October 2004 compared to the same time last year.
The monthly employment index increased from 95.3 in October 2003 to 100.5 in October 2004.
The annual increase in employment was 5% for September 2004.
