Employment in private firms in the construction industry increased by 5.1% in August 2004 compared with August 2003, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office today.
The monthly employment index increased from 100.5 in August 2003 to 105.6 in August 2004.
The annual increase in employment in the sector was 4.9% for July 2004, the CSO added.
