Microsoft plans Irish MSN version

Microsoft is to launch an Irish version of its MSN internet portal.

MSN.ie will be available from Monday October 4, and will offer access to the MSN Hotmail and MSN Messenger services.

Microsoft has also named a number of companies who will provide content for the portal.

RTE will provide news, while financial services group IFG will financial comment and information. Other partners include Esat BT, Eirborne Text Promotions, VHI, and Golden Pages. Match.com will also introduce an Irish dating service.

Microsoft says MSN attracts 350 million users a month worldwide.
