Solid growth in Cisco Systems profits

Network group Cisco Systems last night reported profits of $1.4 billion for its fourth quarter to the end of July, up from $982m in the same period last year.

Sales jumped by 26% to $5.9 billion. Sales for the full year showed a 17% rise to $22 billion. Full-year profits were $4.4 billion, up from $3.6 billion the previous year.

'The investments we've made in emerging markets around the world, coupled with continued innovation in our core business and advanced technologies, are generating record results,' said CEO John Chambers.
