German business software maker SAP, which employs 450 people in Dublin and Galway, says its profits rose strongly in the second quarter as a result of a strong performance in the US.
Confirming preliminary second quarter figures published at the beginning of July, SAP said net profit for the three months was €249m, an increase of 14% over the figure a year earlier.
Operating profit was up 15% to €391m on 9% higher sales of €1.8 billion.
Software licence sales, seen as a key measure of performance, were up 15% at €497m in the second quarter, with software revenues in the US jumping by 63%.
'We're continuing to experience a sound economic environment in the US, while our European business is showing signs of stabilisation in a more subdued economy,' said chairman Henning Kagermann, who said SAP was sticking to its full-year target for a 10% rise in sales.
