The communications regulator has issued two draft decisions aimed at giving consumers 'clear and accurate' information about the pricing of telephone services.
ComReg says three broad principles should be applied to pricing, saying such information should be accurate, comprehensive and accessible.
Under a code of practice for tariff presentation being published by ComReg, all service providers must adhere to these principles.
ComReg also wants consumers to be made aware of the increased cost of using call connection services offered by directory enquiry providers.
The regulator quotes recent research indicating that 51% of consumers who use this services are not aware of the higher cost to consumers compared with dialling the number themselves.
