Science Foundation Ireland has announced funding approval for 120 research proposals under the Basic Research Grants Programme (BRGP).
The awards have been made to academic scientists and engineers in a range of fields.
The most successful institution in this award round was UCD with 34 approvals; Trinity College received 31; University of Limerick 11; University College Cork and NUI Maynooth shared 10 awards each. Three awards were made to researchers based at the Dublin Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology Carlow and Cork Institute of Technology.
SFI, which is funded under the National Development Plan, invests in research on behalf of the Government.
