Irish exports to countries outside the EU increased to €2,970m in March from €2,750m in February, according to the Central Statistics Office. Imports were up marginally to €1,398m.
But exports to non-EU countries for the first quarter of 2004 were 1% lower than in the same period last year at €8.2 billion, with sharp drops in chemical and computer exports.
Imports were up slightly to €4.4 billion, with imports from China up 29% on the same period last year at €537m.
