Non-EU exports increase in February

Ireland's exports to non-EU countries increased to €2.75 billion in February 2004 from the January 2004 low of €2.332 billion, on a seasonally adjusted basis. Latest figures from the Central Statistics Office says that imports decreased further in February from €1.442 billion to €1.394 billion.

The unadjusted exports were valued at €2.632 billion in February, 4% higher than the €2.526 billion recorded in February of last year. Imports remained unchanged at €1.335 billion.

Exports to the US decreased by 15% while Mexican exports slumped by 51%. Exports to Singapore were up 51%, the CSO figures show.

Imports from Canada decreased by 49%, while Singapore exports fell by 21%. Imports from China increased by 24%.
