Communications regulator ComReg has designated RTE's transmission division as having significant market power in wholesale markets for television and radio transmission services on national terrestrial networks.
This follows a review of the market carried out by the regulator over the past year.
ComReg will now consult interested parties on what regulatory obligations to impose on RTE Transmission Network.
In a consultation document last year, ComReg said it was proposing to oblige RTÉ Networks to operate in a transparent and non-discriminatory fashion in these markets.
