Sun burnt by Q3 revenue drop

Software group Sun Microsystems last night reported a net loss of $760m for its third quarter to the end of March, compared with a profit of $4m in the same period a year earlier.

The results included charges of $500m, mainly relating to restructuring. Revenues for the quarter were $2.65 billion, down 5% on the same period last year.

Sun employs over 200 people at its software development centre in Dublin.
