ComReg publishes 3G licence details

ComReg, the Commission for Communications Regulation, has published details of the commitments made by the three 3G licence holders. 3G services potentially include video conferencing and wireless internet.

According to a ComReg spokesman,  the key new point in what was published was the demographic coverage commitments of the three licence holders.

Vodafone has said it will offer 53% coverage on or before 30 September 2004 and 85% coverage by the end of 2007.

O2 has committed to providing 33% coverage by March 31 2004 and 80% by the end of December 2007

The third provider,  Hutchinson 3G, has said it will provide 53% demographic coverage by the end of June 2005 and 85% by the end of 2007.
