The Competition Authority has cleared the way for Scottish Radio Holdings's takeover of FM104 - subject to a number of conditions and the approval of Tanaiste Mary Harney.
These conditions include SRH, which owns Today FM, divesting its interest in Dublin radio station Newstalk 106, FM 104 not renewing its current sales agency contract with Beat FM and FM 104 ceasing any participation in advertising sales as part of Independent Radio Sales.
The acquisition must also be completed with 12 months from today.
As the takeover is a media merger, it has been referred to the Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Mary Harney. If the Minister makes no order within 30 days, then today's ruling is final.
